COVID-19: What will a local lockdown mean for Leicester’s residents?

The first local lockdown in England is set to be enforced in Leicester, amid a spike of coronavirus cases in the city.

The easing of COVID-19 restrictions across the country, which is set to take effect on Saturday, July 4, will not apply within the East Midlands city, with pubs, restaurants, cafes, hairdressers and barbers remaining shut.

A total of 10% of all positive coronavirus cases in the country in the past week occurred in Leicester.
